Description In the past few years, several concepts for teaching foreign languages have emerged, which have worked out a theoretical basis and on this basis have developed first suggestions for teaching practice. In the article, the concept of linguistic landscapes, which is currently being intensively discussed in Research on foreign language didactics is discussed, which was created on a cultural-scientific basis. After a brief discussion of the theoretical basics, it is shown as an example how linguistic landscapes shape in the the teaching of German as foreign language in terms of promoting awareness of language (s) and culture (s) and the interaction of the diverging and converging vector in foreign language learning, which is closely related to Self-concepts of the learners are intertwined, can enrich. Last but not least, transfer possibilities of this concept are aimed at different teaching and learning contexts.
