Description This study deals with previews of pupils of the 2nd level of primary schools on the quality of natural history teaching. The open and closed questionnaire was used as a research tool and was administered to ninth grade pupils (n = 304) in an available set of primary schools. The obtained insights will serve to identify the components and characteristics that establish and influence the quality of natural history teaching at primary schools and as a basis for the creation of their own observation and assessment tool. Data from questionnaires will be presented in which pupils generated their own views on the quality of natural history teaching. A pilot version of the observation and assessment tool for assessing the quality of natural history teaching will be presented. In the end, there will be proposed further possibilities of research direction in this area.
