Description | The presentation represents a partial study of a research project (GAČR 19-12624S) to research multilingualism in the Czech Republic. It presents results of a preliminary study in which we focus on the school level; the perspective of pupils, parents, but also educational policy (using curricula) is taken into account. Our aim is to investigate (1) what challenges linguistic diversity poses for schools and (2) what measures are used to deal with linguistic diversity on the ground. Using a multimodal methodological approach (interviews with teachers and school administrators, analysis of school curricula, interviews with schoolchildren and direct observation), practices of dealing with linguistic diversity at a multilingual school in Brno (CZ) are described - the main focus is lied on goals and sources of the measures as well as the extent to which they contribute to the equal participation of all students. |
