Description The article focuses on the role of assistants (native speakers) in teaching a foreign language and explains the connections between teacher, assistant and students. For the participation of foreign students in the process of teaching languages (the project has been implemented since 2014) received the Language Centre (Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic) European Language Award Label. The study describes the possibilities for tandem teaching and the various factors that influence teaching styles and student motivation. The author analyzes aspects of cooperation with native speakers and their role in the transfer of not only linguistic but also intercultural knowledge.
