Description One of the main principles of foreign language teaching is the close interconnection of language and culture through the application of the principles of cultural learning. This fact is generally accepted and respected not only in foreign language didactics, but also in linguistic strategy documents and teaching materials including textbooks. Foreign language teachers also try to implement this principle, but it appears that the provision of (relevant) cultural content presents a number of difficulties and new impulses for pedagogy need to be sought. The concept of "language landscapes", which was originally established in the field of sociology and sociolinguistics and which in recent years has successfully penetrated the didactics of foreign languages has become one of these in recent years. The paper introduces this concept in the context of the changing view of the “culture of everyday life” and offers inspirational approaches to the use of language landscapes in (culturally oriented) foreign language teaching.
