Description | Navigating in a new educational setting when international students are confronted with varying approaches to teaching and learning can be challenging, nevertheless, extremely beneficial. As a J-1 scholar staying at the University of Central Florida, an international student learns about higher education in the USA, effective teaching practices used at this university, and their teaching strategies. The main focus of mine is Special Education and Speech-Language Pathology; thus, investigating the way how students of Special Education and Speech-Language Pathology are educated and trained in Florida was considered an integral part of this stay abroad. Gaining an understanding of inclusive education in the United States, with visits to a fully inclusive school, was crucial for the understanding of the nuances of inclusion in the USA and the Czech Republic. The main goal of this presentation is to share experiences of mine from this stay and encourage others to be interested in trends in Special Education occurring abroad. |
