| Description | The inventory of segments of the pre-industrial landscape in Moravia was carried out according to a project supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in 2016-2020. During the inventory of the remains of the old cultural landscape, more than 1,400 areas of the ancient landscape structure (land use mosaics) were registered. In these areas there is the same or very similar use of the territory, as presented by maps of the so-called stable cadastre completed in the 1830s. The results show that the segment distribution of the pre-industrial landscape is very uneven. Individual regions of Moravia have different numbers of preserved remains of the old landscape. Part of the solution of this project is informing the public about its results. The preserved segments represent cases of unique natural and cultural heritage and may be the subject of both public interest and legislative protection by the state. The current state of knowledge of this type of heritage in the Czech Republic is currently at a low level. The national or regional inventory is presented here for the first time. Experience to date has shown that the number of examples of this heritage is constantly declining. |
