Description | The workshop "Rhymes, stories and songs of our childhood - The saws" formed part of the composed online seminar, in which, in addition to the presentation of Czech folk culture, a presentation of traditional folklore motives from Colombia and Iran appeared. The seminar took place as part of a series of autumn online webinars organized by the Baltimore branch of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) - The Greater Baltimore Orff-Schulwerk Chapter. Thanks to the online format, the seminar was open not only to members of the aforementioned Baltimore branch, but also to all other interested educators from around the world. In this workshop based on the Czech folk tradition, we playfully became acquainted with the traditional rhyme and songs in their non-traditional arrangements. And, as classical music is essential to Czech musical culture, we challenged our rhythmic and coordination skills through a choreography featuring Laschian Dances - The Saws by Czech composer Leoš Janáček. The character of the choreography was collective-based, but contactless, so it was presented to the participants as an example of a creative musical movement work with a classical listening composition, which can be easily realized with students both online and at school during pandemic times, and could be simply adjusted to fit different age groups. This workshop was one of the results of the author's long-term research in the field of musical movement activities. |
