Description | Karel Vaňura, a painter and glassmaker, is one of the most original authors in Czech art in the second half of the 20th century, as evidenced by this monograph. Vaňura did not accept or did not mechanically accept contemporary styles and directions; his work is original and authentic. In many works, Vaňura achieved original solutions, both visually and technologically; at the end of the 1960s, he was described as one of Czechoslovak art's emerging talents, both glass and painting. It is precisely such work that makes Czech art of the second half of the 20th century that varied, enticing mixture that still surprises and inspires and that shows that there is still something to discover. This monograph is the first comprehensive elaboration of the work of an author who, in addition to his own work as a respected pedagogue, influenced generations of artists and often worried about others' work over his own work. |
