Description The House of a Thousand Floors (1929) is more than a seminal work of science fiction. Well before George Orwell and his cult work 1984, Jan Weiss questions the digital world and generalized surveillance, in a style imbued with a striking poetry and a singular dreamlike universe, reminiscent of his compatriot Franz Kafka as much as Bruno Schulz. Following François Rastier's semantic interpretation, this short essay gives keys to understand the topology of the work (the house), its functioning and our actuality. It casts a new light on a powerful work of our time, unjustly eclipsed.
