Description Texts by Jaroslav Foglar (JF) have affected several generations of readers and have even repeatedly aroused the interest of the professional public. The results described in this contribution are partial outcomes of a complex questionnaire (n = 1174) aimed at the description of the degree of the influence of J. Foglar’s work; specifically, we have tried to find out which aspects of JF’s work were the most appreciated by the respondents and which of them they subsequently applied in their real lives. Altogether there were some 15 fields to be dealt with, out of which 4 have been chosen for this study as they are closely related to the subject of “open-air education” – staying out in the country and camping; emotional perception of nature and landscape; group cohesion; and holistic self-development. It has been discovered that the respondents with some pedagogical experience are able to apply individual aspects of JF’s work to their own performance more significantly. This is true for both professional schoolteachers and the voluntary instructors-lecturers. However, it is the Scouts who have been influenced most of all by Foglar’s work, even in spite of the fact that none of the texts or other components of Foglar’s educational system have been in any way represented in the JUNAK official educational program.
