| Description | The paper deals with Marian themes in selected works by Jaroslav Durych. In two prose works belonging to the author's so-called girls' cycle - the poetic novella Sedmikráska and in the mystical-symbolic novella Duše a hvězda - he points to common Marian motifs and female symbolism significantly inspired by an important figure of Christianity, i.e. the person of the Virgin Mary. He lists them and reveals these images of the Virgin Mary, which appear in both works, in analogy with the personal characteristics and life mission of the main heroines of these novels. |
