Description | In this chapter of the book the connections between the past and the present, we examine on the example of the character of Saint Joseph how the traditional model of education is represented in contemporary French literature. This figure also offers some values for the current educational process. Two authors describing this biblical character, Sylvie Germain in the essay Célébration de la Paternité (2001) and Amélie Nothomb in the novel Soif (2019), express the topicality of traditional approaches in the care of the young generation. The dialogue between the past and the future in connection with this character is also built through the visual arts, in particular by making classic paintings available to the current generation through the photography of one of her peers. We will ask ourselves the question how the paintings mentioned enter into dialogue with the present and how they complete the subject analyzed. |
