Description Thousands of Czechs get Lyme disease, caused by a pathogenic microorganism transmitted by ticks. However, ticks also transmit pathogens to a number of other diseases, the most well-known of which is encephalitis. What is the "hunting" strategy of ticks? Do some people "smell" them more than others? Why is there no vaccination against Lyme disease? These and many other questions were answered by the university teacher doc. RNDr. Alena Žákovská, Ph.D., who has been battling Lyme disease for twenty years and has been researching ticks for a long time. Retrieved from dTest: www.dtest.cz/clanek-8691/klistata
