| Description | The spelling system of French is not consistent because it results from the complicated history of the French language. In our course we will focus on the one hand on the diachronic aspect to explain why there are so many orthographic peculiarities, on the other hand we will adopt a synchronic approach to notice certain tendencies of the spelling and pronunciation of contemporary French in relation to the specific lexicon or of foreign origin. |
