Description In my presenation I investigate the role of literary funds in the production of translations from Dutch into Czech. I ask myself the following questions: What influence do the two literary funds that stimulate the translation of Dutch-language works abroad, namely the Dutch Foundation for Literature and Flanders Literature, have on the appearance of Dutch and Flemish titles in the Czech Republic? Which works are subsidized? Do certain aspects play a role, for example the reputation of the author or the genre of the book? Are more Dutch or more Flemish titles subsidized in the Czech Republic? It emerges that the role of literary funds is crucial. The only determining factor for the subsidy is the quality of the work. More Dutch than Flemish titles are translated into Czech.
