Description Results and reflections (still partial) of ongoing research at Masaryk University in Brno on writing and interpunctory uses of LS Italian by Czech and Slovak learners are presented. The question is first asked to what extent the learners practiced (and practice) writing, what awareness they have of the interpunctory system of their L1 and LS Italian, what uses they make of it, and what the most frequent errors are. And finally, one wonders whether a contrastive teaching approach can actually prove effective.
