Description This short communication critiques the paper of Primc & Slabe-Erker published in this journal in 2020. The reasons for this critique fall into two categories: engagement with the energy poverty literature and application of QCA according to best practices. The argumentation is supported by discussion of the EP literature and QCA methodology as well as reproduction of the study in question. Based on an evidenced critique, the paper argues that there is cause for caution regarding the claims the authors have made and need for additional research in this vein.
