Description The article briefly theoretically discusses the education of gifted students and various problematic groups of gifted students who are disadvantaged in some way in the school environment and are at increased risk of not being identified and adequately developed.. The case study deals with a mathematically gifted 8th grade student and his difficulties in going through school. In his case, it is illustrated that the issue of giftedness is still not clear to some teachers and the result is a frequent risk that gifted children are perceived as rather strange. The aim of the article is to find answers to four research questions concerning the school environment, the possibility of developing the extraordinary gift of the pupil and also the solving strategies that the pupil uses.
