Description This paper focuses on foreign language education in the environment of Baťa's Zlín in the 1930s through the example of a private foreign language school. The aim of the study is to examine, describe and explain the establishment and further development of this school and foreign language education in the conditions of the school in the interwar period. Methodologically, this paper is based on traditionally used methods of historical research (the direct and indirect methods). We study the educational institution from a broader social context, as well as examine the daily life of the school using the histographic approach of microhistory. The presented study is divided into three parts. First, we explain the research methodology, then focus on the factors influencing the establishment and organization of the educational institution, and finally, we deal with the development of language skills. The research results show a close connection between the management of the Baťa Group and the life of the examined school. The content of the lessons was determined not only by the needs of the manufacturing company but also by the interwar reform movement and by new approaches to foreign language education.
