Description The aim of this article is to present a didactic experience with the social network Instagram as a part of the subject Writing within the studies of the Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Language and Literature at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, with Czech and Slovak students. The purpose is to check to what extent the use of Instagram will act as a motivating element for the publication of flash fiction written by the students during two academic years: in 2020-2021, with online teaching due to the coronavirus pandemic; and in 2021-2022, with a return to face-to-face teaching. To that end, the current status of research on social media in teaching Spanish as a foreign language will be reviewed; the results of the didactic experience will be presented; the analysis of its pros and cons will be examined; and the challenge of incorporating social media nowadays into teaching Spanish will be discussed at the end.
