Citation
Description The paper focused on the psychological aspects of the postnatal care provided to the mother and newborn during the first six weeks after birth in the following areas: physical support, emotional support and social support. Both positive and negative aspects of this care, which are perceived by parents as central in the Czech health care system, were reflected upon. The way parents perceive the care they receive in the postnatal period (subjective lived experience) was highlighted as it can significantly influence not only their overall experience and satisfaction with the healthcare system, but also their experience of the postnatal period. Thus, the quality of postnatal care can have a long-term impact not only on the mother and the newborn, but on the functioning of the whole family system.
