Description | The paper deals with the topic related to sources of addiction to addictive substances in the context of adolescent needs. As a follow-up to this issue, the thesis tries to find out which developmental needs are fulfilled using addictive substances and how adolescents’ needs are related to life backgrounds, to the role of addictive substances in adolescents’ lives and to participants’ perception of possible missing support. The aim of the research is to analyze which developmental needs are fulfilled using addictive substances through semi-structured interviews. Based on interviews, the need for affiliation was interpreted, including the need for belonging and acceptance, the need for self-actualization, connected with the need for success, recognition, and admiration, and the need for social contact, related to the need to belong somewhere, the need to have fun, relax and need to be fascinated by spirituality or entering another world. Also was found out the need for abilities associated with self-confidence and courage. In the context of needs research results reflects the possibilities of support, within which the focus should be primarily on the family, other loved ones, and free time, which needs to be fulfilled by hobbies. The conclusions of the research offer an insight into the issue from the point of view of the adolescent’s needs and thus are the basis for the planning of prevention and intervention of substance use. |
