Description The study presents poetry collections for children by contemporary Czech author Robin Král. It maps his work from his literary beginnings to his most recent book, with selected collections and poems being given attention in a more detailed interpretation. By taking a closer look at specific texts, we found the main themes and characteristics of Robin Král's collections. From the point of view of the topic, the world around us is most often represented in the poetry for the little ones – everyday activities of children and adults, profession, family. In his texts, Král often connects the aesthetic function with the cognitive function. This is also the case with collections for an older audience, falling within the boundaries of scientific literature (Řez kočkou, Ukolébavky, Vynálezarium). The general characteristics of his verses include linguistic playfulness, lightness, sensitive work with children's vocabulary, but also with puns and punchlines. Rhythmic and rhyming regularity, visuality and audibility prevail in the Král´s poems. Humor and exaggeration are the points of contact that make some of Robin Král's books (Vynálezárium, Ukolébavky, Jsou tam kuny,...) attractive books for adult readers as well, "all age books". Intermediality is typical for the collections of Ukolébavky or Písničky na hraní, which are also complemented by music CDs. The study also presents literary awards won on the Czech literary scene and follows the reflection of the Král's texts in professional literature.
