Description The aim of the text is to offer a basic insight into the issue of Roma national identity, which takes different forms among various social actors and is an important topic of research and social practice not only in the context of the Czech Republic. Along with this, the study will try to outline the possibilities of anchoring research on this issue in structural theory. Structuration theory in the context of research on Roma national identity links two important research levels. On the one hand, it emphasizes research on social structures, which can be represented in research by the analysis of dominant social discourses shaped by various social institutions. Along with this, however, structuration theory also draws attention to the necessity of conducting research directly with Roma actors who can tell the most about their conception of identity.
