Description | The chapter is largely devoted to the collaboration of the brothers Bohumír and Alois Jaroněk with the magazine Nový život in the years 1900-1904. It was published in Nový Jičín and Prostějov by Karel Dostál-Lutinov, a priest, poet and leading figure of Czech Catholic Modernism. His cousin, Theodor Dostál, founded the company Vulkania with his support in Prostějov, especially focusing on artistic metalwork. Wrought enamelled plates from its production are close to the design of Alois Jaroněk. Although he probably did not design them, it can be assumed that the use of folklorizing motifs in his styling was done with his approval, since Vulkania and the Jaroněk brothers' workshops, founded in the same year, 1909, did not want to compete but sought cooperation. |
