Description The text presents the current situation in the education of children and pupils with hearing impairment or other associated disabilities in the Czech Republic. It points not only to the legislative changes that have taken place in recent years, but also to their subsequent eff ect in the education of the target group. In relation to the support measures introduced, the text mentions both the positives and certain limits and risks, which are based on the authors’ experience. The text describes the current situation both in the inclusive environment of mainstream schools and in schools established under Section 16(9) of Act No. 561/2004 Coll. (Education Act), which are primarily intended for children and pupils with hearing impairments. In the context of the system of support measures and their application, the article also draws attention to the transformation of the role of the special pedagogue in the educational process of children and pupils with hearing impairment. The text also includes selected examples from the practice of children and pupils with hearing impairment who are educated in diff erent environments and are included in level 3 or higher support measures.
