Description The study is part of a dissertation that deals with the development of reading pre-literacy in the family of preschool children and in kindergarten. The aim of this study was to find out what are the parental practices that influence the development of pre-literacy in their preschool children. In this post, I focus on the family environment. For these purposes, a combination of research methods was used - keeping a diary by parents and an interview. In this post, I introduce the results of the interviews in comparison with the results from the analysis of the diaries. The results showed that the differences between the parents' practices are noticeable, yet home reading is the dominant activity for all parents, thanks to which parents support the development of pre-literacy in their children. At the end of the thesis, I consider the possible connections of these research findings.
