Description The aim of the dissertation research was to find out what is the level of reading literacy of children attending a one-class kindergarten in Brno and what aspects of the family influence the development of reading literacy. Based on the results of pedagogical diagnostics, two children were selected, with the best and worst results of pedagogical diagnostics in the field of speech, which is part of reading literacy. Another method used was interviews with the parents of these children, who were asked to keep a diary for one month. The results of the preliminary research showed that although the test results show a different level of language skills of selected children, their family environment appears to be highly stimulating, especially in terms of home reading. At the end of the work I consider the possible context of these research findings.
