Description The navigation canal with its original length of 51.8 km was built in the late 1930s in the floodplain of the Morava River between Rohatec in the south and Ostrovice in the north. It was used to transport lignite from the mining area near Hodonín to industrial plants in Otrokovice and Zlín, later for gravel transport, for a long time irrigation for agriculture and now for recreational navigation. It is a remarkable natural and technical heritage from the period of industrial society. It continues to be extended at present.
