Description Age, size, physical development, and related factors define a child. Children are essential for the continuity of human society, and their experiences during childhood shape their personalities and ability to navigate adulthood. Societies prioritize the well-being of children, as the concept of childhood encompasses all experiences within this life stage. The vulnerability of children has spurred interest in their protection, leading to laws, cultural practices, and governance focused on their welfare. Different schools of thought have debated the key determinants of childhood and their influence on later life behaviors. This review study, based on theoretical research, examines scientific articles on the genetic, cultural, and anthropological components of childhood, sourced from credible databases. It also critiques factors such as personality traits, societal perceptions of children, and the media’s role in shaping these perceptions. The paper concludes by emphasizing the individuality of a child as a significant factor in their development and societal contribution as adults.
