Description The article presents the first results of a research project focused on the presentation of minorities in Czech newspapers. The following minority groups were considered: 1) ethnic(al) and national, 2) (of) disabled people, 3) political and 4) social cases. We have analysed 9 nation-wide newspapers: Mladá fronta Dnes, Lidové noviny, Právo, Zemské noviny, Moravské Slovo, Hospodářské noviny, Špígl and Haló noviny a Blesk, issued from (the) October 2000 the 1st to (the) March 31st, 2001. In 1333 analysed printed issues we have found 1202 articles dealing with minorities. Most of the articles were printed on the pages of Lidové noviny. Articles about Roma and handicapped people were found in the highest number. Formal features of articles (lenght, place on the page and so on) and thier content were analyzed.
