| Description | In this chapter a childhood is analysed in the context of Roma family. It is based on the analysis of qualitative interviews with Roma children and their parents. It focuses on the structure of the Roma childhood as social institution as well as agency of children in the framework of the institutional. It takes in regard the temporal and spatial dimensions of the social world of Roma children. The author analyses the culture of the children. Next to the family context broader social environment is observed as a source of cultural patterns. The dichotomy of traditional and modern is critically reviewed in the conclusion of the text. |
