Description Peak inspiratory flow (PIF) determines deposition of inhaled drug in the lungs. PIF is dependent on the severity of the disease. Thus severe asthma reduces the efficacy of inhaled drugs, as was proved by comparing two groups of patients - those with mild asthma (284) and moderate asthma (18) in different types of inhalers. In moderate asthma patients, a reduction of PIF was confirmed.
