| Description | Nine patients with TB pleuritis are presented (6 men, 2 women) aged 24-47 years. The diagnosis was established 2002 through 2004 based on positive mycobacterium tuberculosis cultures from pleural fluid (8 pats.) or relying on high tuberculin test plus subsequent retreat of the finding following antituberculous treatment. Eight pats. recovered completely after antituberculous therapy which was always started with four-drug combination; 1 patient is still being treated. The study confirms the literary data: Tuberculous pleuritis makes up to 3% of all pts. with pulmonary TB. |
