Description Innovations are considered to be the way to increasing of competitiveness and that is the reason why so big accent is put on them in the European union as well as in national economics. Innovations usually rise from research and development and they means use of new ideas and findings in practise. Each country has own approach to support of innovation and innovating enterprises. We usually talk about national innovation systems and innovation policies. The contribution deals with comparison of innovation policies and systems in new member states of EU. Three countries are compared: Čzech republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
