Description Washington Consensus is a reform agenda, which was written in 1989 by John Williamson. The task of the consensus was to help Latin American countries escape the debt crises. The Consensus includes 10 policy reforms. In this paper we first of all analyzed these reforms. Then we tried to find connections to Czechoslovak and Czech way of transformation. The reason is that the Consensus has been often criticized by the Czech economists and was regard as a source of problems in our economic development. We found out, that the reforms in the Czech Republic were similar to the Consensus. But when we tried to analyze the application of the specific points we realized that the level of consonance was exaggerated. We learnt that in the Czech economic literature is the term poorly defined. This leads to misunderstandings and misusing of the whole concept.
