Keywords different genres of spoken English - comment clauses - syntactic type - orientation - discourse function - prosodic features - turn position - situational context
Description Based on the results drawn from private face-to-face conversation and public radio discussions, the author proves that the clausal forms you know and you see can perform in spoken English various functions which they do not have in its written variety. These functions depend on many factors, for example, prosodic features, turn position and above all the whole situatuional context.
