Description The author deals with the transformation of teacher training curriculum in the context of demands of sustainable development (SD). She understands ecological education (EE) as the determining dimension for SD. Further, the possibilities of developing the competence for teaching EE are discussed. The author is based on the proposal of the standard of undergraduate ecological/ environmental teacher training. She states the crucial issues in connection with educational areas RVP ZV and the outline of educational disciplines from the study programme for lower classes of primary schools at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University Brno, which contribute to the development of eco-pedagogical competences of teachers
