Description | AIM: An investigation of health problems of sport doping in Czech Rep. at 2004 to 2005. METHODOLOGY: We asked 250 doctors, members of Czech Society of Sports Medicine, by questionnaire. RESULTS: We have received responses from 65 physicians. At 2004 to 2005 only 24 sportsmen (of 55416 patients) had health complications: vertebropathy (4 cases), endocrinopathy (2), hepatopathy (1), psychopathy (1), tendon injury (1), muscular hypertrophy (1), tiredness (1), acne (1). It was in bodybuilding (2 cases), power sports (2), futsal (1), canoeing (1) and fitness (1). Before 2004 was registered 76 sportsmen with health problems in relation to doping: tendon and muscular injuries (8), hepatopathy (6), psychopathy (4), dermatopathy (3), tumours (3), vertebropathy (2), cardiopathy (1), lung emboli (1); in body building (7), athletics (1), skiing (1), tennis (1) and football (1). CONCLUSIONS: The most frequent health complications are musculoskeletal injuries. The most problematic sport is bodybuilding. Always the vigorous endocrinological and other health problems. |
