Description Some compounds are known for their ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and don`t influence nontransformed somatic cells. From the group of nature compounds can be named some members of polyphenols. Polyphenolic compounds are well known especially as antioxidatints, but they act as neuroprotective and imunnomodulative substances too. We used grape byproducts (plant material rich in polyphenols)for extraction and methanol + water as an extraction solvents. Both extracts (water and methanolic)were mixed and evaporated, then analysed for the total polyphenolic content (Folin-Ciocalteu`s reagent). The influence of these extracts on the L-fibroblast L929 in cell culture was studied. The aim of our work was to observe, whether polyphenols from our extract are able to induce apoptosis in the culture of L929 fibroblasts. Our results showed, negative effects of extracts on the fibroblast viability and proliferation. The prevalent type of cell death was necrosis.
