Description Using an extended GIS database on natural factors and land use, the present landscapes of the Czech Republic were identified. A special selection has been done for the main alluvial plains in the country. The results show relatively limited influence of forestry on the landscape view of the riverine plains. The most of them are used for an intensive agriculture. In some areas in Eastern Bohemia, Central and Southern Moravia and on the Upper Oder River the forestry plays a dominating role in the landscape view formation. A part of those areas are protected.
