Description The objective of linguistic analysis of phraseology appearing in the letters of the great Czech woman author Bozena Nemcova (1820-1862), is to describe, capture and interpret the difference in the phraseologic vocabulary occurring in the two types of letters written by her: the first group are letters addressed to her husband Josef and the second group are letters to her children. It appears that in the letters to her husband there are a greater number of similes than proverbs compared to the letters written to her children. The letters to her husband also contain more expressive and negative utterances (e.g. on the topic of death). Phraseology here serves as a means of realistic and critical depiction of the world, while in the letters to her children she builds a picture of the world that is educationally desirable and ideal.
