Description | IL-6, a proinflammatory cytokine, is critically involved in a cascade of events leading to the development and maintenance of neuropathic pain after nerve injury. Both ipsi- and contralateral L4-L5 DRG display changes of IL6 immunostaining one week after spinal nerve ligation. Satellite glial cells and endothelial cells are important sources of IL-6 protein in DRG associated with nerve injury up to a week. |
