Description This report is an analysis of a to-date unknown source regarding the records of the Brno City's residents between 1857 and 1863. The purpose of the bound protocols, named “Invigilierungen”, of the Brno Police Presidium is not fully evident. Possibly, it was a package of control mechanisms following social and political objectives. Statistically, 2,158 persons were evaluated, whereas the analysis' decision point lays in their place of origin. Very interesting proved to be the occupation of the evaluated individuals in relation to their country of origin and, last but not least, also other categories, i.e. their sex and age. The report provides a historically interesting image of migration of inhabitants in Austria in the 50s and 60s of the 19th century.
