Description The fact of division of the Russain Metropolie into Lithuanian and Moscow revived in the Lituanian society the tendencies leading to the church union. The followers of this union, clergymen and laymen, weere continuying the conclusion of the Florentine union and they wanted to see the Romish Pope as their ally and protector. The Pope was supposed to help them to resolve the relationship with Polish and Lithuanian Catholic bishops.
