| Description | Terminological difference between urbonym = proper name for a settlement with a status of a city, and urbanonymum = all existing classes of proper names (except for antroponyms) used in communiation related to the area of the city is provided. Urbanonyms have an exposed role for orientation and honorification. Integration of the suburban parts and villages into cities is connected with the change in the status of the name. Difference between intra and extra muros names is introduced. Folkloristical viewpoint is devoted to the role of urbanonyms in urban culture, in the repertoir of urban narrative stories. The role of urbanonyms for the establishment of the awareness of urban traditions is highlighted. Interdisciplinary relations |
