Description Professional autonomy of a teacher as an important professional competence becomes an essential condition for implementation of school transformation. Its development is closely related to professionalisation of teachers and thus also to the conception of teacher training. To illustrate we mention the key activities through which students acquire the basics of teachers competences in their training at the Faculty of Education MU. We focus on the development of individual levels of professional autonomy, i.e. the opportunities in which students are trained for decision making about the aims and content of the school curriculum; about the sources necessary for implementation of the school curriculum; about planning learning experience for groups of pupils and individual pupils and about curriculum evaluation. We respect the fact that the growth of professional autonomy of teachers is associated with the competence of selfreflection and theoretical reflection of practical experience.
