Description In the past few years, the Czech education system has also faced extensive transformation processes which reflect international development. The crucial impulse of the process was (as in other European countries) the Bologna accord. This complex and multifaceted process has an impact on both Czech schools and universities. The paper offers an insight into the present stage of implementing the trends of the Bologna accord at Czech universities. It also focuses on the influence upon its effects in university training of future language teachers, basing on the example of the Department of German Language and Literature of the Faculty of Education of the Masaryk-University in Brno.
