Description | There was confirmed development of behavioural sensitization in mice to methamphetamine psychostimulatory (open field test) and antiaggressive effects (model of agonistic behaviour) upon repeated administration not only of this drug but also of morphine, MDMA and cannabinoid CB1 receptor agonist. On the contrary, the pretreatment with cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonist AM 251 suppressed the sensitization to methamphetamine. In methamphetamine treated rats the significantly higher expression of the CB1 receptor gene was registered in mesencephalon (real time HPLC detection), however the immunofluorescent analysis of CB1 receptor density on the neuronal membrane surfaces in VTA of the brain showed significantly decreased density what might suggest an internalization process. Cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonist AM 251 in the rat trained to methamphetamine i.v. self-administration significantly decreased the intake of the drug while cannabinoid CB1 receptor agonists tend to increase it. The rats with olfactory bulbectomy (OB) showing behavioural and endocrine changes resembling those found in human depression; the intake of methamphetamine in OB rats was significantly higher. |
